Maruyama won the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro. Shigeki Maruyama led throughout the final round on his way to a five-stroke victory at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro. Maruyama teed off with a three-shot lead over Brad Faxon, who never cut the margin to fewer than two shots at Forest Oaks. Displaying a cool nerve with the putter, Maruyama recorded six birdies and one bogey for a five-under-par 67. He finished at 22-under 266, a stroke off the tournament record, while Faxon shot a 69 for second place at 271. Maruyama is by far the most successful Japanese player ever on the PGA Tour. Maruyama also is one of only four players to win on the PGA Tour each of the past three years, along with Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and Justin Leonard. |
