Carlisle racecourse is located at Blackwell on the outskirts of the historic border city of Carlisle. It is set in open countryside, and the undulating course provides high quality racing every month of the year with twelve National Hunt meetings from October to April and nine flat meetings between April and August. The National Hunt is right-handed, undulating, stiff and galloping with a 1m 5f circuit. The flat is right-handed, pear-shaped, galloping and against collar over the last 4f and is just over 1m 4f round. Events include:- Wednesday June 23 2004 - The Cumberland Bell and Carlisle Plate Days are both steeped in tradition and great fun to attend!
- August 2 2004 - Ladies Night is a superb evening for socialising and watching great flat racing, with prizes for the Best Turned Out Lady!
