Cheltenham, the undisputed home of national hunt racing, is perhaps best known for the National Hunt Festival which takes place every year in early March. The top three-day meeting of the jump season sees an all-ticket crowd gather to watch the exploits of the best horses and jockeys from Britain, Ireland and Europe. The National Hunt Festival is held in early March, which features the Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup, the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Smurfit Champion Hurdle. Also at Cheltenham is the Paddy Power Gold Cup in November, and the Tripleprint Gold Cup in December. The Sporting Index Course is made from natural hedges, banks, ditches and timber winds round the middle of the other courses. How to get to Cheltenham By Car: The course is a mile from Cheltenham town centre. Take the A40 or M5 to Cheltenham and follow the AA signs to the course. By Train: Cheltenham Spa station links with a bus service direct to the racecourse.
