Haydock Park is the North West's premier year-round racecourse with excellent racing from January to December. The 127 acres of parkland forming the racecourse of today have panoramic country views and are surrounded by ancient trees. Haydock Park was created in the last year of the 19th century as a successor to Golborne Heath course which had flourished since the 1750's. Haydock Park hosts quality flat and National Hunt racing including the Stanley Leisure Sprint Cup on September 4 2004. The National Hunt is left-handed, flat and galloping with a 1m 5f circuit. The Flat is left-handed oval, with galloping, 1m 5f round with 41/2 f run-in. By Car: Just off Junction 23 on the M6, with easy access from the A580 linking Manchester and Liverpool and on the motorway network from the M6, M56, M61 and the M58. By Train: There are main line stations at Wigan and Warrington and branch line stations at St Helens, Ashton-in-Makerfield and Newton-le-Willows with bus routes running from most of the locations listed above stopping at the end of the Racecourse drive.
