Kempton Park, London's Racecourse, is set in Sunbury-on-Thames just outside Central London and stages both Flat and Jump racing and races throughout the year.
The feature race meeting of the year is the traditional Pertemps Christmas Festival Meeting on December 26th and 27th, whilst during the summer months Wednesday night themed evening racing is popular.
There are four family Days at the course on Bank Holidays April 19th, April 21st, May 5th and August 17th. Childrens entertainment on these days is free and includes face painting, pony rides, bouncy castle and goody bags.
Events include:- July 14 2004 - Gala Night. An evening of traditional music, pomp and pageantry. The band of the Irish Guards, Scots Pipes and Drums, Kings Troop and the Musical Ride of the Household Cavalry will perform after racing with the evening ending with a fireworks display.
- August 4 2004 - Irish Night. A popular evening of Irish music, a giant Guinness tent and U2 tribute band Achtung Baby performing after racing for all racegoers to enjoy.
- August 17 2004 - Family Day with free entertainment in the centre of the course including face painting, pony rides, bouncy castle and an animal farm.
- August 18 2004 - The final raceday in the Wednesday Winner series.
- The Pertemps Christmas Festival on December 26 - 27. Featuring the Pertemps King George VI Chase on Boxing Day and the Pertemps Employment Alliance Handicap Chase on the 27th, this is a traditional outing for many racegoers over the Christmas period. A fun and festive fixture that attracts some of the very best hurdlers and chasers to compete for the sport's top honours.
By Car: Kempton Park is very near to the London end of the M3, and if you are travelling from anywhere other than Central London, the best route is to follow the M25 round to junction 12 and then turn on to the M3 eastbound until Junction 1. From there turn right on to the A308 and Kempton Park is approximately 1m further along on your left.
By Train: Kempton Park has its very own station which is served by trains on the Shepperton to London Waterloo line. From London the journey take approximately 35 minutes and trains leave roughly every half an hour.
By Bus: Buses from Staines and Kingston stop at the racecourse gates.
Disabled facilitiesThere are good facilities for disabled racegoers with a viewing area at the front of the Main Grandstand. Toilets are available in the Main Grandstand and Silver Ring. There is a lift in the Annual Members' bar enabling disabled access to this area.
Children's facilitiesThere is a crèche situated in the Silver Ring and there is a playground in the centre of the course, so there are good provisions for children and they can be kept well entertained.
PicnicsRacegoers are very welcome to bring picnics and these can be eaten in the centre of the course.
Dogs are allowed into the centre of the course only.
